Excerpts from “Doing Theology in the Philippines”

“People are called not merely to serve in the church, but rather, to represent Christ as salt and light in every realm of human activity. And real theology empowers all God’s people to do that, confidently. The Church is not just when it is gathered, but also when it’s scattered. Filipino Christians need to reclaim the Church as God’s people influencing and reshaping everyday life and every sphere of life. The goal is not simply larger numbers of Christians, but every Christian doing ministry with the goal of bringing about lasting change in society and culture for the sake of God’s Kingdom”
-Timoteo Gener, “Every Christian a Theologian” – a chapter from the book, Doing Theology in the Philippines
