The Only “Bible” They Will Read: Lost in Translation

I have often heard preachers say that for some people, the followers of Christ are they only Bibles they will ever get to read. By that, they mean that the way we live reflects the the reality of God’s word. At times though, it seems like we are poor, if not contradictory translations of God’s word:

“Be restlessly hopeless, sulking in affliction, always lacking in prayer” -Romans 12:12

“But seek first all these things, and hope that the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, will be given to you as well” -Matthew 6:33

“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all that is left of your heart , soul , mind, and strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor by praying for them, but doing nothing tangible to help them.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” -Mark 12:29-31

Is your life mis-translating the Word of God? Ask Him to help you correct it. You won’t know how many people are “reading” you.
